I have always taken pride in being a reporter.
I love writing, and most of all I love telling stories.
So making the decision to take on a different line of work when the opportunity presented itself was a hard one.
But it was even harder not to give it a shot.
So here I am, on the brink of moving into the advertising department with the Barrhead Leader.
This doesn’t mean I won’t still be seen coming and going, or attending community events, camera in hand. No, for the time being I will be balancing two very different, yet satisfying careers.
I will be a reporter/sales representative until we find someone to take over as a reporter.
So if next time you see me I am looking a little disheveled, please forgive me, I am just trying to find my way.
The world of advertising is completely new to me, and to be honest its pretty complicated too.
I will admit, transitions are not my forte, but I will do my best to ease into my new position with grace. As you know, I moved here from Ontario, and although I may have made it seem like I was transitioning a-okay, I definitely was struggling at first.
I always believed the best way to do something was to dive right into it.
I wouldn’t take this as a goodbye, but more of an adios, farewell, ta-ta-for-now.
Some of you, I may see more now than I did before, and for that I apologize in advance (just kidding).
Others, I may be meeting for the first time, and I look forward to it.
As I said, this is a whole new world, one that I am very excited to be a part of.
I have always been an advocate for reporting. Heck, I even took on a work experience student so I could promote the job within the younger generation, and I know it seems like an odd thing for a reporter who loves their job to do, but when I see an opportunity, I take it.
So as I move forward in my next adventure I wish you all the best, and look forward to meeting all of your advertising needs.
Next time you see me I could be wearing either of my two hats, the hat of a reporter, or the hat of Barrhead’s new sales rep. Did I mention I can also juggle? Jobs that is!
