Dear Editor,
I am writing in regards to the coach shortage for the 14+ IGA soccer. Currently there are no coaches for this soccer and consequently this year there is no soccer.
Having previously played soccer in Barrhead and seeing firsthand how many are passionate about the sport, it is really a shame there is no soccer for us this year.
This is a big problem in Barrhead because baseball and soccer are the two summer things that kids over 14 can do and not having coaches for this year reduces and limits the amount of exercise they get. These kids need their exercise because they have more homework than the younger kids.
I would strongly recommend anyone who loves soccer to consider coaching. Coaching itself is a good leadership experience and can make a big difference in a young person’s life. Please consider helping out next year.
