Last weekend in Three Hills, the Boyle Blazers bantam hockey team accomplished something that few ever do.
The group of local athletes earned the right to call themselves the provincial champions.
Those who have played organized sports during their lives know that few accomplishments are sweeter than a victory shared with a team. Over the course of a long season, teammates form powerful bonds as they overcome great obstacles together. Individuals grow in skill and experience as they combine their efforts to do more together than they ever could on their own. That camaraderie is shared by bad teams as well as good, but it’s never more powerful than on the march to a championship.
In Three Hills, the Boyle boys played their best hockey of the season, pushing the limits of their abilities in a quest to claim the provincial banner. And when the dust settled at the end of the tournament, they had done just that.
If the banner that will hang in their hometown arena isn’t reward enough, they will also have memories of their feat that will last a lifetime.
