Raising a glass to Athabasca Rotary

The Rotary Club of Athabasca enjoyed a well-earned night of recognition and celebration last Saturday.

The club held its 25th Anniversary Charter Night, during which a number of the organization’s successes were lauded.

Among the highlights were greetings from a number of the exchange students the Rotary Club has welcomed over the years. Kids from faraway countries wrote letters to thank the club for giving them the chance to experience life in Canada. Likewise, students from Athabasca have often been given the chance to travel to new places and study abroad. These life changing experiences have been made possible thanks to the hard work, dedication and selflessness of Rotary members over the last 25 years.

One doesn’t have to look very far in Athabasca to see examples of the Club’s good work. It’s in the Fieldhouse at the Multiplex, and in the clock at the riverfront, and at the new handy lift recently installed at the Athabasca Landing Pool. It’s all over the community.

The Rotary Club deserved their night on Saturday and they deserve our thanks for the work they have done, and continue to do, in the community.
