Dear Editor,
Slow down, Alberta and Brian Jean. If the goal is not simply to defeat at all costs the opposition, then you need to take a second look at what you are now proposing.
The Wildrose Party needs, now more than ever, to stand on its own integrity and not the skewered morals of the fat, drunk and satiated Conservatives.
These are still the same politicians that not so many years ago caused you to cross the floor. The same party that took liberties bordering on criminal. If the industry grease out-weighs the incoming profit then what makes us any different than Putin and his Russia?
How did they lose billions in the bank and become broke if they did not squander? Did you suddenly forget the reasons you crossed the floor in the first place?
Right now, the Wildrose stands for some value; being the only party to demonstrate its devotion to listen to the people and defend our way of life. Bravo.
When Trudeau attacked our oil patch with his fumbled words (from his foreign keepers), that they desire the closure of our resource exports because it disrupts their gross profits and you took up the challenge, I took notice. When you took up the chauvinistic gauntlet and swore an oath to protect the maidenhood of your dear Ft. McMurray, my heart filled with Alberta pride.
Here is the vigour we Albertans are looking for, so do not throw it in the Conservative trash can. Get your appointees in place and fill your party with capable popular members to show Alberta the Wildrose is ready to govern the largesse that is the province of Alberta. Build upon this relit flame. You must do a better job than the NDP did coming out of the gate.
The depth of destruction the Conservatives left in plain view was massive and the NDP were unprepared and drowning, in desperate need of a liberal handout. The destruction that the Conservatives left hidden beneath the soil is even greater and then there is the hindrances put in place by the NDP following the Liberal agenda that will need to be overcome.
In lieu of all this, your proposition to rejoin that which you once quit, shatters the heroism you are bolstering. You sure you want to sign up with them again? If you peel back the façade, I believe you will find the monsters still lurk in the dark corners. A merger at this time will put out that vigour, whereas the solace of an independent conqueror that comes to the rescue will take you a long way.
