Reader believes Bill 6 part of hidden agenda

Dear Editor,

Whenever an industry follows unsafe practices and puts people’s lives in danger, then it is the government elect’s responsibility to step in and ensure the rights of those people being abused. It is the farmer’s fault that has opened this Bill 6 doorway. I am referring to the loss of three young children’s lives in a horrible farm accident in southeastern Alberta; where three children were allowed to play on top of a large grain truck while it was being loaded. Children are innocent of industrial procedures and their unconditional love to please their parents, overshadows their unalienable right to abusive protection. If you are ignorant of the daily dangers you place upon your children, then someone needs to step in and educate you. A multi-ton, massive horse powered, oversized tractor should not be driven down a country road, or any road by a ten-year old child. Would you allow the same child to operate an overhead crane in the downtown core, or run a powerful hydraulic system in a mine shaft? Sure milk the cows or collect the eggs, but these machines kill.

However, having said that we are now witness to the horrendous abuse and usurpation of responsibility of a political party over the people it represents. There was no desire to consultation, simply a pre-designed mandate. Bill 6 is not a refined piece of legislature designed to protect the people; but a blunt object designed to insert encompassing dictates that will strip away human rights. As it stands it is just the tip of the iceberg. Opening the doors to constitutional issues that suave lawyers will use to overwhelm the small farm, making them their puppets. This is not a new bill, but has been on the floor of the House of Commons for many years. Long has the sticky fingers of the untouchable WCB vied for this opportunity so their slick lawyers can engage. The American Declaration of Independence states; “Whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the inalienable right of the people to alter or abolish and to institute new government”. Clearly this issue was not included in the election campaign, but was a hidden agenda. For had the truth been known the outcome would have been decidedly different! Is anyone on eight side listening?
