Dear Editor,
I‘m sorry Anne Stiles, but I disagree with your statement (Town and Country April 2, 2019) about “Notley has been working hard for four years to get our oil to tidewater and diversify our economy so that we can get back on our feet.”
When Notley and the NDP got elected in 2015, the first thing they wanted to do was shut down the oil, gas and tar sands. It wasn’t until late 2017/early 2018 that she got fired up about pipelines and oil/gas to tidewater when they needed more money in the government coffers. Now that she’s working for the people of this province it’s good but maybe a little too late. The NDP carbon tax has been detrimental to industry and families, all it has done was line the government’s general revenue account so they think they can spend more. The NDP platform has billions of new spending, it’s not sustainable. What will happen when the people not working (unemployed, underemployed and those who believe they are entitled and don’t have to work)are a larger group than the working people. The system will collapse.
I like Rachel Notley, she’s a great speaker, personable, smart and no scandals in her four years, but I still don’t like the NDP platform.
I don’t much like Jason Kenney, too much the old boys club and way too much scandal, but the UCP platform is more conservative and believable. Millions in the UCP platform not billions like the NDP.
Steven Mandel and the Alberta Party not even a blip on my radar. I’m against mandatory childhood vaccinations.
David Khan and the Alberta Liberals, for me, enough said. I’m not voting Liberal. A Liberal in the Prime Minister’s office is more than enough for me.
Derek Fildebrandt and the Freedom Party, maybe someday will be a force to reckon with, but if they are going to run candidates in 30 some riding’s, it’s not enough to form government out of 87 ridings. Only enough to split the vote so the NDP get in for another four years.
This is my take on the situation. My advice to all voters, look at all the platforms for each party and pick your poison. Unfortunately, I believe again we need to pick the best of the worst, which is so sad because we should have the best of the best to choose from.
