Dear Editor,
I have lived in the County of Barrhead since 1984. Not once did I attend an annual report evening. I wish I had.
I did, however, attend the latest annual public open house on Wednesday, April 10th, curious as to what was happening in the area. What an eye opener.
First, hats off for such organization. My eyes were opened to the fact that the people running our county are very dedicated individuals. Their decisions are not made lightly and in fact are guided by rules handed to them by laws made at higher levels. Each councillor sits on numerous boards as well. Thank you for your service.
Attendance was poor – they must feel they are not appreciated at times, yet they persevere. The meeting was very informative. I would encourage everyone to attend in order to understand exactly what it takes to run this county. More important is you can have input into the decisions that will affect your life.
