Dear Editor,
The dictionary states the word govern in one of its definitions is “ to hold in check; restrain; curb. All levels of government in this province and country seem to forget basic fundamentals when they are fortunate enough to be elected by the taxpayer. After all is government not to be “of the people”,”for the people”,”by the people”. We are in such a sorry state because our politicians think there is no end to the money we can provide to them as taxpayers so they can throw it around wantonly.
We as taxpayers need to impress on all our politicians in all three levels of government that they need to be more accountable to the public. Borrow millions and billions of dollars and expecting our children and grandchildren to pay this money back is reckless, malice, arrogance and ignorance on their part.
I don’t think it is their given right to put all us taxpayers into such debt as we will never be able to pay this off in generations to come. We must stand up and speak out everyday and stick up for ourselves against this travesty.
We the populace must protect ourselves and future generations against fraudulent elected officials with right of recall and impeachment proceedings.
