Athabasca came to life last weekend as another edition of the Magnificent River Rats festival rocked the town.
This year’s festival had humble beginnings. With previous organizers bowing out, a small but dedicated group of newcomers pulled together to reignite the festival for another year. After two days packed full of activities, great music and lots to see and do, it’s fair to say they succeeded.
Saturday was a day for kids, with a free zone just for them filled with all kinds of fun and games. Lots of great food was available on both days, and the weather couldn’t have been better on the first day of the festival.
The second day began with a bit of a scare as clouds formed and rain poured down on the Canada Day festivities. Luckily for all, the weather turned halfway through the day and allowed lots of people to come out and enjoy great acts like Valdy and Bif Naked.
Thanks to all for making this year’s event memorable.
