Remembrance Day has come and gone, and Christmas will soon be on the way. Six more weeks in fact, though Barrhead will be getting into the holiday spirit much sooner.
This week many around the community are hurriedly filling special shoeboxes with small gifts and goodies for Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samartian’s Purse that sends gifts to children overseas.
With nothing more than simple items like pencils, socks, toothbrushes and some hard candies, a person in Barrhead can change a child’s life forever through this small act of kindness.
Barrhead’s Christmas Light Up celebration is also just around the corner. This is a great opportunity not only to get into the spirit of the holiday season, perhaps with some early Christmas Shopping, but to support local businesses.
We’ve all heard the message that it’s important to shop local. How else can a small business survive if not for loyal customers in the community?
They’re even making it easy for us with some great sales at Light Up Nov. 15, so be sure to get a head start on your gift shopping right in the heart of Barrhead.
