Dear Editor,
In response to the “Silence is Deafening” comment the Leader put in the paper a few weeks ago, I want to say indeed it is as of this date no response has been heard from any of the personnel of the Ambulance Authority or other. Is NO response an admission of guilt on their part of ignoring the pleas for help for an injured child? One comment that was made to us by one of the E.M.T’s that day was, “you should have called 9-1-1”. Does that mean that they were worried about being paid for this call for help if proper protocol hadn’t been followed Does it all boil down to money? Does it make a lot of sense even to call 9-1-1 when the ambulance service was right within arms reach? It didn’t even cross our minds to make a phone call to 9-1-1 when we could clearly see them there.
The many comments I have received from Town and County residents who read the article indicates that people are very disturbed about his incident and are also wondering WHY? A request was also put in at the Mayor’s office to have a railing installed on that dangerous stair case at the Agrena. Is there going to be any satisfaction seen there either? I guess we will wait and see. It would be a cheap fix to a nasty problem.
To update those of you who have asked about the little girl. She is 3 1/2 years old who hails from southern Alberta. She suffered a bad spiral break to her left femur and had surgery at the Stollery Children’s Hospital. She wore a cast from her waist down to her toes for 5 weeks or more and is recuperating nicely at her home. Her Mom says she is doing good.
That’s the best news to come from this story yet and yes the silence is STILL deafening.
