Small town kindness

Dear Editor,

On the morning of August 15 after an early hospital appointment, I was ready for breakfast. The taxi took me to Peppers and I seated myself at the table farthest to the north, I am the only one in that section. Alone with my memories - great. I ordered an omelette and coffee, water. Later a young mother and 2 daughters sat at the next table. We chatted, girls going into Grade 9 and 6 and she has 5 children, oh busy mother. As they got up to leave, each came over and hugged me, with tears I thanked them for making my day. Oh how lucky I am, though alone. Later lunch people were coming so I asked for my bill. The waitress replied, “it’s paid for”. I am in shock, “by who”? The waitress replied, “The young family that left”. I asked her, “do you know them”? No” she replied and neither did I.

This must be an “act of kindness”, Calgary and Edmonton people had their coffee paid for but here in Barrhead I had my breakfast paid for.

Yes, there are wonderful young people. I am so happy and proud of you Barrhead, my home since 1949. God Bless You. I will keep you in my prayers. Forever grateful..
