For two nights, Barrhead audiences were kept spellbound by a group of young local actors.

Drama for Children’s latest production, Godspell, was a magical mix of singing, dancing and acting. It was also a spiritually uplifting two-hour diversion from one of the coldest periods of a long, long winter.

Spontaneous applause rippled through Barrhead Composite High School drama theatre during both performances last Friday and Saturday. To Drama for Children director Dale Clark the show was a great way for children to stretch themselves artistically and learn skills they can carry with them through life.

She has watched in joy and amazement as shy children have discovered a haven in theatre where they can develop, learn to express themselves and gain confidence. Confidence is so important to life. It is the key to success. It is the quality that allows a person to reach his or her full potential. Anyone watching Godspell last week would have been thrilled by the sight of young people giving of themselves in a way that bodes well for their future and ours.
