Residents of Athabasca, Boyle and the surrounding area need to be commended for demonstrating the spirit of giving.
From the significant contributions to food and toy drives to supporting and volunteering for various community functions and groups that provide free meals or deliver much needed hampers to those less-fortunate people, it seems a good majority of local residents are committed to helping their community.
Granted, this commitment is most noticeable because of the time of year, but you can see this spirit demonstrated year round, it just takes a minute to look around.
With such a busy region, one might have a tendency to think spending time doing selfless acts for others would be put on the backburner.
That is certainly not the case out here, as it seems the small town, rural attitude of helping your neighbour is as strong as ever.
So, stand up, give yourself a pat on the back and take a bow. You deserve it.
