It was a feast for all the senses.
For the eyes, there were paintings, sculptures, decorative glassware and jewellery. There was also a fantastic performance by the Footworks Dance Academy.
For the fingers, there was the delicate feel of fabrics. For the nose, there were subtle scents and body lotions. For the tongue, there was the delicious taste of fudge, candy and other treats.
And for the ears there was music, whether by the Versatiles, the Barrhead Alliance Church Sunday members, the “Drama for Children” group or Dale Kiselyk’s drumming ensemble.
Anyone who went to the Festival of Trees’ annual Christmas Market and Sale at Barrhead Elementary School gym on Friday and Saturday must have come away impressed.
Here was an occasion for buying handmade Christmas gifts, shopping locally and enjoying some great entertainment.
This was the fourth edition of the Barrhead &District Chamber of Commerce’s Festival of Trees. And according to vendors we spoke too, it was the best, with no effort spared to lay on an event which appealed to people of all ages.
Particularly encouraging was the number of first-time vendors who wanted to return next year.
What better testimony of success?
