By the time this newspaper reaches your hands, Athabasca will have chosen its new councillor.
The byelection for the open spot on town council was held yesterday, and today, one of Barbara Bell, Angela Betts, Joanne Peckham and Colleen Powell is preparing to represent their community.
You may have voted for the successful candidate, in which case you can be satisfied with the knowledge that other voters in town made the same conclusion you did. Perhaps you voted for one of the three candidates who fell short of their goal.
Regardless of who you voted for (and who won) all four candidates deserve credit for pledging to serve their community. Serving on town council is a difficult and often thankless job, but four women were passionate about doing it and sought your support.
Best of luck to the chosen candidate.
