Dear Editor,
Our tired, reluctant and indifferent County Council actions are wrong. Their inaction has spawned a curmudgeon led tax petition to delay or stop the construction of a swimming pool for the Barrhead area. If taxes are to rise to construct a new pool, so be it. The pool will be a valuable asset for everyone. No lives are ever lost due to tax increases. Delaying or failing to construct the pool could result in a drowning tragedy.
I learned a valuable life skill 53 years back at a swimming pool. Being a swimmer, I thank the visionaries who built the pool. Thankfully, curmudgeons were disregarded as trend setters of the time.
