Dear Editor,
I read the article that Joe Smith sent in and someone with some clout had better pick up the ball here, preferably a lawyer that is shortly going to be in “our and Joe's position.” Do not just sit back and think that this isn't going to happen to you. Which dept. in the govt. has the power to give someone (a private party) the right to open up a business (SIMARD MD) and start testing drivers? What test did the govt. put them through? Can anyone apply and get the right to open a Driving Testing business? Who runs the company? Do the employees have thousands of hours of driving skills? Are their reflexes as good as mine or Joe's or anyone else they have failed? What has remembering 12 items got to do with being able to drive, park and or go down the road safely? Joe mentioned a young lady gave him this test. How many years did she have driving safely? After Joe was failed, he had to go to Edmonton and pay $236 to do a test on a computer. That fee is a lot of cash out of a fixed income. Someone better put a stop to this farce. I have an article in front of me telling me about the work that the Alberta Traffic Safety consultants do in the communities. It would be a good thing if they grabbed this Red Herring and did something positive in regards to the licencing of Alberta Drivers testing.
