The Athabasca Lions Club is killing two birds (or perhaps gazelles would be a better analogy?) with one stone (pounce?) with its plan to revitalize the old rodeo grounds while providing the town with a much-needed public campground.
The group is to be applauded for moving past the disappointment that accompanied the old riverside campground being destroyed to make way for the interchange. The Lions have instead focused on the opportunity to revive activity on the other side of the river.
Meanwhile, Rotary keeps enhancing the riverfront (this time, it is adding rubber matting around the exercise equipment it installed last summer).
The measured, thoughtful approach taken by local service clubs to improve Athabasca for all of us is one we thank them for.
