This community should be very proud of its senior high girls basketball players after they won their first zone championship in 12 years last weekend.
Winning a championship at any level in any sport is no easy task. As has been proven time and time again in the theatre of professional sports, it’s not good enough to amass a collection of great athletes. Skill plays a part in championship success, but teamwork is far more important.
Only teams that have learned to play together and work as a unit have real success. This year’s Edwin Parr Composite senior girls team has worked long and hard for their zone championship and will no doubt cherish the banner that will hang in the school’s gymnasium.
