Join the Cultural Arts Theatre (CATS) in St. Mary’s School Park on Aug. 10 for a free celebration of local music talent.

From 1 p.m. until 5 p.m., residents can bring their picnic blankets, lawn chairs and listening ears to hear beautiful melodies from talented musicians.

The festival includes performances from the Geinger Duo, Freddy 2-Hat, Ryan Medcke, Koltan Potts, Ian O’Brien and Nolan Mast.

They will be joined under the gazebo by kids from the Ecole Westlock Elementary School Choir. Tina Wold from CATS and organizer of Music in the Park says she heard their voices and knew they had to be involved, “I heard them and I just went ‘Wouldn’t it be fun to have young voices for the crowd to listen to.”

Tina Wold from the Westlock Cultural Arts Theatre has been one of the helping hands in bringing art and culture to the community.

She says that the festival is happening rain or shine, so listeners should be prepared for anything: “Please bring umbrellas. The sun is warm. Or bring a hat. We will have a bit of water there, but bring a water bottle.”

This is the first year that they will also be serving hot dogs and drinks available for purchase, thanks to the Soul Sisters Memorial Foundation for providing the funds to do so. Free popcorn will also be given out courtesy of Horizon Ag & Turf.

CATS is bringing back the 50/50 raffle where tickets can be purchased on the QR code listed on their poster or by card at the event. Last year's winner walked away with an extra $1,200 weighing him down.

Wold wanted to thank the sponsors who will make the fourth Music in the Park a success, as well as promote their upcoming performances, starting with a visit from Jake Mathews in October.
