GRAND ENLIGHTENING

The Truc Lam Monastery north of Busby held its grand opening over the weekend, kicked off with a ceremony Saturday night that saw the statue of the Avalokitesvera bathed in coloured light. During the ceremony, monastery members and members of the public held small lotus flower tea lights while various incantations in Vietnamese were read out. Statues all around the central square were also bathed in light. On Sunday, the monastery continued its grand opening with a second ceremony.
