WESTLOCK –  Keenan Sziva, 29, has been stripped of his driver's license for one year and sentenced to 18 months of probation following a road rage incident that occurred last year.

On Sept. 4, Westlock Court of Justice heard that on July 26, 2023, a man, along with his wife and young daughter, were driving on Range Road 271 in Westlock County when they noticed a vehicle approaching behind them travelling at a high rate of speed. The man motioned to Sziva to slow down but instead of slowing down, Sziva approached the family, swore at them, and accelerated at a high rate of speed causing the man to drive into the ditch out of fear for the safety of his family. Sziva stopped and swore at the family again before speeding away at a high rate of speed.

The man was able to get a description of the vehicle and a license plate and reported the incident to police. Sziva was arrested and charged with dangerous driving.

Justice Bruce R. Garriock gave Sziva a conditional discharge and placed him on probation for 18 months. He was also ordered to complete 30 hours of community service.

Before sentencing, Sziva expressed remorse for his actions.

“I want to apologize to the family. It was uncalled for and I should have controlled my temper,” said Sziva before he was sentenced.
