WESTLOCK—Three young sisters from Westlock have raised more than $2,000 for various local organizations and causes over the past few years by selling handmade crafts at their mother’s business or at community events.

Alana, Hailey and Lisbeth Dul were recently at the Vintage Tractor and Machinery Club’s 33rd annual show over the June 1-2 weekend, where they had set up a craft table inside the Ag Barn.

The goods on sale included jewelry, soap, knitted items, and wooden crafts they made with their father.

While they sometimes have their table set up at events like the vintage tractor show, they also sometimes have a table set up at their mother’s business, The Outback Western Wear & Tack.

The sisters had promised to donate their proceeds to the tractor club, but their mother Tanya Dul said they were also planning to make a donation soon to the Canadian Tractor Museum.

Over the years, the girls have donated money to the Westlock Pioneer Museum, Healthy Families Healthy Futures, the hot lunch program at their school and the Westlock Library.

“They wanted to do something good for the town,” Tanya said. “They get to decide everything that they create and where to donate and how often they do craft shows.”

The sisters also take part annually in the Lemonade Day event, where young children set up lemonade stands and sell drinks to customers to learn about operating a small business.

This year’s Lemonade Day takes place on Saturday, June 15. Tanya said Lisbeth and Hailey intend to donate their proceeds to the Stollery Children’s Hospital, while Alana is donating to the family of five-year-old Lexah Makey, who died in a car accident on May 14.

“They just love giving back,” Tanya added.
