WES - 2022 Curbside Pickup Event
The Town of Westlock is holding a curbside roundup of electronics and household hazardous waste today and tomorrow, June 1-2. Items being accepted for pick up include small appliances, electronic game systems, power tools, paint, tires, used oil materials, batteries, drain cleaners and oven cleaners, oils, aerosols and propane tanks, bleach cleaning fluids and pesticides.

WESTLOCK – The Town of Westlock wants to clarify items being accepted in the curbside roundup of electronics and household hazardous waste happening today and tomorrow, June 1-2.

“We’ve had some comments that there are large items that aren’t the household hazardous waste or (electronic items). We want to clarify the items that are being picked up today and remind residents that we do have the large item pick up coming back in September,” said Town of Westlock communications and marketing coordinator Debbie Mottus.

The town has teamed up with the Alberta Recycling Management Authority to provide residents with the curbside pick up of electronics and household hazardous waste during the two-day event.

Residents looking to clear out old paint cans, scrap tires, old electronics, used oil containers or filters, and other household hazardous waste are encouraged to place items at the curb for pick-up by 7 a.m. both days.

“We didn’t have this (electronics and household hazardous waste roundup) last year and last year was our first large item pick up, so this may be where that confusion is coming in,” said Mottus.

Items for pick up include small appliances, electronic game systems, power tools, paint, tires, used oil materials, batteries, drain cleaners and oven cleaners, oils, aerosols and propane tanks, bleach cleaning fluids and pesticides. Alberta Recycling Management Authority has posted a comprehensive list of accepted items at https://armaepilot.com/product-list/.

The town’s large item pick up event is scheduled for later this year on Sept. 7-8, which will include such items as mattresses, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and windows. For information visit https://www.westlock.ca/p/special-pick-up-events.
