WESTLOCK COUNTY — Both wildfires burning in Westlock County have been classified as Under Control as of Wednesday afternoon, according to officials.
Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development (AESRD) ground crews remain on the scene assisting local firefighters with final containment and monitoring. Residents are still asked to avoid the affected areas to ensure safety and allow operations to continue uninterrupted.
With fire conditions improving, the county will transition to providing daily updates. The next update is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday, May 9.
“We appreciate the continued support from residents by remaining out of the area,” Westlock County stated.
