WESTLOCK – It is the parent volunteers and their generous spirit that contributes to the success of many of the school activities in the Pembina Hills School Division and exceptional parent volunteers are recognized.
Vanessa O’Quinn is one of those selfless parent volunteers dedicating hours of her time to the Westlock Elementary School, and was recognized for it with the school division's exemplary parent volunteer award last month.
“It's not just that Vanessa volunteers it's how she does it,” according to a post on the Pembina Hills School Division website.
“She doesn't wait to be asked, she demonstrates initiative, her hand raised before the need is even fully voiced.”
O’Quinn has been there to help with classroom support, chaperoning students on field trips, or simply stepping in wherever a gap appears. She is available for those scheduled events and is always there as promised.
Her commitment goes far beyond that with spreading the word about events, checking in to make sure people feel connected and in the know about what’s happening at the school.
O’Quinn spends a great deal of time at the school sharing her positivity and dedication with everyone she encounters.
Her charisma spreads through a smile or a laugh or the attention she gives to everyone, students, parents and staff.
She is an inspiration and is admired by the Westlock Elementary students.
Care and genuine consideration for others creates those great connections for O’Quinn.
Being an active listener and giving the time to anyone who needs a friendly person to talk with, get encouragement from, makes a difference to those who interact with her.
The Westlock Elementary School and the Westlock Community benefits from her kind and generous character.
It is all of these factors mentioned that makes her a truly exemplary recipient of this award, according to the Pembina Hills School Division website, and they congratulate O’Quinn on receiving this award.
