WESTLOCK — The staff at Wabash Manufacturing donated just over $1,000 in December to the Westlock Municipal Library, which will assist with the purchase of a top-end 3D printer.

Allyson Sauve and Sadie Kushernyk, who both work at Wabash Manufacturing, stopped in at the library on Dec. 19 to present a $1,032.20 cheque to library director Michelle Albrecht and board chair Kathy Kieser.

Kushneryk said that each Christmas, the staff at Wabash pool together cash donations and the proceeds from bottle recycling to donate to a local charity or community organization.

She said they keep an eye out locally for causes to give money to, but in this case, she actually contacted the library to see if they had any projects they were working on which needed cash.

“They had a good project, and we decided as a group to choose the library for our donation,” Kushneryk said.

Keiser said they intend to put the cash toward the purchase of a 3D printer, which can be used alongside the library’s various programs to make all kinds of trinkets and giveaways.

"It’s kind of endless the number of projects that can be done,” she said.

Keiser noted the $1020 was more than enough to purchase a really top-end printer and the resources to use it.

“It’s going to be interesting to see what we can create with that. It’s very exciting,” she added.
