Westlock’s museums ready for another season

Pioneer and Canadian Tractor museums open May 23

WESTLOCK – It has been two years since many public places, including museums, have been fully open to the public, which led to a large crowd of large crowd well over 100 attending the opening of the Pioneer Museum and the Canadian Tractor Museum in Westlock May 23.

Following a free pancake and ham breakfast (donation only many patrons took the opportunity to tour through the Pioneer Museum, which houses some large and unique collections, such as the Bernard Wiese antique gramophone collection, Max and Mary Wiese Aladdin Lamp Collection, the Del Trueblood Gun Collection and a Mildred Hay Doll Collection.

At noon, the action switched to the opening of the Canadian Tractor Museum, with hot dogs and smokies all donated from local businesses. Again, a large crowd attended the opening, and many took a tour through the museum’s collection of donated and on-loan tractors and equipment. Youngsters were treated to barrel train rides, face painting and a chance to try their hand at the kid’s tractor pull. Adults got to witness outside the unique start up of some of the tractors and one of the stationary engines.
