The Village of Boyle will hold off on making a decision to join Athabasca County’s TED Committee, while seeking more information.

During a joint village-county council meeting Jan. 8, Boyle Mayor Colin Derko said there would be some questions before the village can make a final decision.

“I think the fiscally responsible answer to the questions is we first need to see at what cost and can we afford it,” he said. Derko added he does not foresee it being a big hurdle.

He also said the committee seems like a good fit and a good start “for many other things.”

The TED committee is comprised of four county councillors, one town councillor and three members at large.

Currently the town contributes 20 per cent of the committee’s deficit, or nearly $40,000 in the 2018 budget.

Boyle’s chief administrative officer Charlie Ashbey submitted a list of questions for the TED committee to answer, and village council will wait on a response before making a final decision.
