Three incumbents, six newcomers for Aspen View Public Schools trustee election

Dennis MacNeil was acclaimed as a school board trustee for another term, this time in the north-central ward. Trevor Yeaman was also acclaimed in this ward, the only of the six wards where two seats instead of one were vacant. The ward comprises all Athabasca schools (Whispering Hills Primary School, Landing Trail Intermediate School and Edwin Parr Composite School).

Paul Ponich was acclaimed for another term as a trustee. He will serve the northeast ward, which includes Boyle and Grassland Schools.

Lewis Semashkewich was acclaimed for the northwest ward, which contains Smith School.

Aspen View also accepted nominations at the Smoky Lake County office, where Randy Uglanica reported he is running for reelection in the south-central ward (which includes H.A. Kostash School in Smoky Lake); Elohne Chizawsky is running against him.

Donna Cherniwchan was acclaimed for the southeast ward (Vilna School).

With the exception of individuals who have won by acclamation, the candidates have until tomorrow at noon to withdraw their candidacy.
