Three men arrested on drugs, weapons charges

Athabasca RCMP made traffic stop for broken tail lights near Colinton Dec. 29

ATHABASCA - Three men are facing drugs and weapons charges following a traffic stop west of Colinton just before New Year's.

Athabasca RCMP members pulled over a vehicle in the area of Mcnabb Road with two broken tail lights on regular patrol just after midnight Dec. 29, 2022. They recognized "several males of interest", and one of them was arrested for an outstanding warrants with Edmonton Police Service, said Athabasca RCMP Const. Kyle Hotchkiss in a Jan. 3 media release.

"Through investigation, the other two males inside the vehicle were arrested for several weapons offences. RCMP members conducted an initial search of the vehicle. During that search, RCMP members located the following: a flare gun which had been modified to shoot 12 gauge shotgun rounds; a loaded .22 caliber rifle with a prohibited 30 round magazine and silencer; brass knuckles; several machetes, bats, knives, bear spray and fumigation masks ... In addition, RCMP members located approximately 17 grams of suspected methamphetamine, both inside the vehicle and on the occupants.

"All three individuals were held in police custody for judicial hearings. Subject to those hearings, Faragher and White were released from custody, with several conditions to abide by. Bone was remanded in custody until the next court appearance of Jan. 03, 2023," said Hotchkiss.
