The Town of Athabasca will be conducting unscheduled repairs on a water line in the area of 43 Street and 49 Ave on the East Hill after a line failure. Repairs will commence later this morning and are expected to be finished by 9 p.m.

ATHABASCA — Residents on the East Hill in Athabasca will be without water for the day after a line failure and subsequent maintenance was announced by the town.

An unscheduled water service interruption notice was sent out by the Town of Athabasca via the Alertable app at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, advising residents in the area of 43 street and 49 Ave of the temporary disruption.

“The repair work is to begin later this morning and is anticipated to be restored by 9 p.m.,” read the alert, although the estimated time of completion may be adjusted due to circumstances encountered during the repairs.

The town is advising residents to avoid travel in the area, as traffic will be restricted due to the presence of workers and equipment. All households affected by the water service interruption are encouraged to flush cold-water faucets after service is restored to clear discolouration.
