The latest addition to the STARS fleet, the (AugustaWestland) AW139, landed at the Athabasca Healthcare Centre last Wednesday. STARS scheduled a full hour for the visit as it deems Athabasca a "high priority" stop after STARS made 25 trips to the Athabasca Healthcare Centre last year.

The new chopper flies faster and farther, and it loads patients from the side rather than the rear, eliminating the risk of being in proximity of the tail rotor.
