Athabascans are in for another warm week after record-breaking temperatures were seen all across Alberta last week.

ATHABASCA — Athabascans are in store for more humidity and high temperatures this week, though the warning that saw record-breaking heat hit much of Alberta last week has ended.

Environment Canada is predicting a cooler start to this week compared to last.

Tuesday will begin with a mix of sun and cloud, with skies clearing close to noon. Daytime temperatures will reach 30 degrees, with a Humidex value as high as 34 and a UV index of seven. Skies will remain clear overnight, and temperatures will hover around 15 above.

Temperatures will heat up mid-week, with more clear skies and highs of 32 predicted for both Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures will drop to 16 degrees overnight Wednesday but will stay as warm at 18°C on Thursday night.

Friday’s weather will be much the same, with a high of 31 degrees and little cloud cover in the forecast. Overnight, temperatures will drop to 16 degrees with cloudy periods and a 30 per cent chance of showers.

The weekend weather looks promising, with sunny skies anticipated for both Saturday and Sunday, carrying highs of 30 and 31 degrees respectively.
