True growth potential for the Town of Athabasca is in qualitative growth, not simply quantitative growth, according to Athabasca University researcher Mike Gismondi.

The fight continues to raise awareness for Down syndrome, as Nov. 1–7 is National Down Syndrome Awareness Week, and Darlene Bertin is leading the charge in Athabasca.

A candidate in the Town of Athabasca mayoral race requested a recount of the mayoral ballots cast in last Monday’s election. On the night of the election, the first vote tallies released did not include the advanced polls.

Patricia Pedersen has been elected trustee for the Aspen View Southwest ward, which comprises Rochester and Thorhild schools. Pedersen received 366 votes in the election that ended Monday evening; runner-up Robert Hooey received 207 votes.

EPC Pacer Mitchell Snow is pulled to the ground by a Vegreville Vortex player who grabbed onto his mask during last Saturday's playoff game in Athabasca. The Vortex were given 15-yard penalty for the infraction, and the Pacers went on to win 38-0.
