Mayor Roger Morrill would like to see the speed limit in Athabasca reduced to 40 kilometres an hour, but without an outcry from the community, the issue is moot. Until the public wants the speed limits changed, they will remain at 50 km/h.

Doug and Margo Cook were heading from Ryley to Wabasca for a vacation on Saturday afternoon when their RV trailer started fishtailing. Doug, who has over 30 years of trucking experience, managed to keep the pickup truck upright even when the trailer tipped over. The accident occurred just south of the Colinton turnoff on Highway 2.
