Barrhead Shoes, a local institution, is celebrating a remarkable milestone: 70 years of serving the community. The family-owned business will mark its platinum anniversary on July 16th with a special event for the town.

BARRHEAD – Barrhead Shoes celebrates its 70-year platinum anniversary on July 16 with a meet and greet with coffee, donuts and a burger barbecue from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Not too many businesses are 70 years old with the same family,” said Kevin Daase, owner of Barrhead Shoes.

It is quite the milestone for a business to be operating in Barrhead for 70 years.

Emil Daase, Kevin’s grandfather, bought the store in 1955.

Barrhead Shoes wasn’t always in the same location.

Emil built part of the building where they are located in 1962.

Oscar Daase took the store over in 1964 when Emil passed away.

Oscar and Deanne Daase, Kevin’s parents, ran the store for many years and built solid friendships with many people and families in the Barrhead area.

In the 1970s additional building and renovations were done and they built the store to what is seen today.

Oscar and Deanne have not been working in the store for the last three years.

They will be at the store on July 16 to visit with anyone wishing to come in and celebrate this amazing anniversary with them.

The successes and the struggles the Daase family faced over the years define their history.

Barrhead Shoes is not just a shoe store.

They have a repair shop that offers skate sharpening, shoe repair and general repair on clothing items including hemming, zippers, and buttons.

Kevin and his wife Leanne run the store now and welcome the community to visit.

Barrhead Shoes is a tribute to the Daase family and the Barrhead community who have counted on Barrhead Shoes over the years.

They invite you to come for a visit on July 16 and reminisce with them while enjoying the heart and home of Barrhead Shoes.
