Many parents and siblings will find something a little special under the tree thanks to Santa's Workshop.

On Saturday, Dec. 2, hundreds of children converged on Barrhead Elementary School's gym to do their Christmas shopping and had the opportunity to have their pictures taken with Santa Claus.

The annual event, which has been going on for about 15 years, is sponsored by Pembina West Co-op and allows children to shop for the special adults in their lives without breaking the bank.

All the gifts range from $1 to $15 and are provided at cost by the Co-op. Volunteer elves escorted the children through the workshop, helping them select their purchases. Before returning to the main gym, another group of volunteer elves wrapped the children's purchases, helping ensure their gifts would remain a surprise for their special people on Christmas.
