BARRHEAD - The Barrhead and Mayerthorpe RCMP recently worked together to arrest three individuals they say were involved in an armed robbery at the Liquor Stop in Sangudo March 21.

According to a news release, the Mayerthorpe RCMP first responded to a report of an armed robbery at approximately 8:40 p.m. that evening.

Two men wearing masks had entered the store, brandishing a bat and firearm. Once inside, one of the men sprayed employees with pepper spray while the other removed the cash register.

They then departed the store, though not before taking several bottles of liquor, and got into a vehicle that was being driven by a third individual.

The release states that Mayerthorpe RCMP located the vehicle not long after receiving the call and a pursuit began along a rural road heading towards Barrhead.

The Barrhead RCMP assisted in the pursuit by deploying a tire deflation device to incapacitate the vehicle. All three individuals were taken into custody without further incident.

Darwin Wolf Hallock, 24, of Grande Cache, Norman Billy Wanyandie, 37, of Grande Cache and Annie Moberly, 36, of Spruce Grove are facing a variety of charges, including armed robbery, assault, pointing a firearm, wearing a disguise in the commission of an offence and flight from police.

Hallock and Wanyandie have been remanded into custody after a judicial hearing. Moberly has since been released on conditions.

All three are scheduled to appear in Mayerthorpe Provincial Court June 11, 2020.
