Two Westlock brothers are about to see their hard work pay off with their new web series, How to Learn Anything, set to launch Oct. 11 on their YouTube channel 52 Skillz.

R.F. Staples’ improv troupe, Westlock Flock, is gearing up for a season of laughs and collaborations with musical artists. And the Flock kicks it off Oct. 13 with White Lightning rocking the CATS Theatre at 7 p.m.

The upcoming Cultural Arts Theatre Society (CATS) series features something for everyone — from country, to blues and even a symphony quartet. The series begins with “A Tribute to Stompin’ Tom” featuring Tim Hus this Friday, Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m.

Kirk Pollard has watched what has gone on in Westlock County over the last year and is ready to act. Pollard, an employee at Westlock Terminals who lives on a century-old family farm in Div. 4, is entering the fray for the Oct. 16 Municipal Election.

Brian Coleman, the former head of a local seniors housing organization, has announced his candidacy for Westlock County’s Div. 4.

Dennis Primeau will run for re-election in Div 7. Primeau is the last incumbent to announce his re-election bid and says he wanted to wait until the municipal inspection report went public Aug. 30.

Accountant Victor Julyan has joined the Div. 1 race. Julyan joins incumbent Ron Zadunayski, who announced his candidacy last month. “When I read the municipal inspection report, I was a little alarmed about what has been going on,” he said.
