EDMONTON — The Edmonton Elks signed veteran American quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson on Sunday. The move wasn't a surprise as word surfaced Friday that Bethel-Thompson had agreed to terms on a one-year deal with Edmonton.

EDMONTON — McLeod Bethel-Thompson is returning to the CFL. A league source said Friday night the veteran American quarterback had agreed to a one-year deal with the Edmonton Elks.

American running back Willie Bethea, who led the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to three Grey Cup wins during his eight seasons with the CFL club, has died. He was 85. The Ticats took to social media Friday to confirm Bethea's passing.

HAMILTON — Bo Levi Mitchell is taking less to remain with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The Ticats announced Friday that Mitchell has restructured his CFL contract that will keep him with the franchise for the next two seasons.

REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders have released veteran American defensive back Derrick Moncrief, the CFL club announced Friday.

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Elks released veteran American defensive back Aaron Grymes on Thursday. Grymes spent eight seasons (2013-15, 2017-18, 2021-23) with Edmonton.

REGINA — Mario Alford is staying put. The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed the veteran receiver/returner to a one-year extension Thursday. He was slated to become a free agent next month.

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Elks have released American wide receiver Steven Dunbar Jr., the CFL club announced Wednesday. Dunbar had 39 receptions for 536 yards and a team-leading five touchdowns in 13 games for the Elks last season.

VANCOUVER — The B.C. Lions have signed returner and wide receiver Terry Williams to a two-year extension through the 2025 season, the CFL club announced Wednesday. Williams was eligible to become a free agent on Feb. 13. The Greenwood, Miss.

CALGARY — The Calgary Stampeders have signed defensive back Rodney Randle Jr. after his stint with the NFL's New England Patriots.
