BREAKING: Flash flood near downtown Barrhead

The corner of 52 Avenue and 49 Street in Barrhead was flooded with water from a sudden downpour of rain on Wednesday afternoon July 31 at 5 p.m.

“It rained for about 15 minutes,” stated a resident of the area, Meagan Kruse.

“This has happened before.”

Kruse recalls that the last time the flooding was at a similar level was in 2011.

“There's a lot of water issues in this part of town,” stated Kruse.

When it rains, there aren't really many places for the water to go except the alleys, which funnel the water down, according to Kruse. The water then floods people’s yards.
