Grassland fire still under investigation

RCMP seek witnesses and surveillance footage

GRASSLAND - Boyle RCMP are seeking the public's assistance in gathering more information regarding a July 31 fire at the old Grassland School.

Grassland, Boyle and Athabasca fire departments responded to a call of a fire at the building, just off Highway 63, and were further assisted by Boyle RCMP and EMS. Alberta RCMP's Forensic Identification Section was also called in to assisted with the investigation, which is ongoing.

"Surveillance footage was obtained which confirmed the fire started at midnight. No injuries have been reported to police," said an Aug. 11 media release from RCMP. "Boyle RCMP are seeking public assistance for any dash camera, surveillance, or potential witnesses to contact police."
