Search warrant yields stolen vehicle, firearm

Lindsie Bigstone, 34, of Calling Lake is in custody after Athabasca RCMP located a stolen vehicle and executed a search warrant Dec. 27 resulting in the recovery of the vehicle and a prohibited weapon.

ATHABASCA — One man is in custody following the search warrant executed in Calling Lake. 

On Dec. 27 Athabasca RCMP were conducting a patrol when they located a stolen vehicle so obtained and executed a search warrant on the property. 

Arrested was Lindsie John Bigstone, 34, of Calling Lake, for six charges of failing to comply with a probation order, possession of a prohibited weapon, a modified .410 shotgun, and possession of a firearm with a removed serial number. 

"Recovering any illegal firearm and keeping them out of the hands of those who should not have them is a positive step toward protecting the safety of the public," said Athabasca Detachment commander Staff Sgt. Mark Hall. 

Bigstone will remain in custody and appear in Athabasca Provincial Court Jan. 4.
