Town of Westlock crews start work following latest dump

Full snow removal begins in the evening of Dec. 26
WES - town snow removal policy

WESTLOCK – Town of Westlock crews have already started work following the most-recent dump of snow and are targeting Sunday, Dec. 26, as to when they’ll start full snow removal efforts.

In a release the town notes crews will be out plowing, sanding and addressing calls over the next couple of days, while their snow removal policy determines their priorities, meaning they’ll focus on emergency routes and access points.

Crews are then slated to start the full snow pickup event this Sunday, Dec. 26, in the downtown area — watch the town’s website and social media for maps, or sign up for transportation alerts on the Westlock Regional Notification System: Connect to get the information directly.

Things to keep in mind

• If we all work together each snow season, we ensure our residents can access amenities and necessities.

• Clearing sidewalks in front of residences and businesses within 24-hours after the snowfall event

• Keeping public sidewalks and highways clear of obstructions (snow, ice, dirt, etc.)

• Following instructions on snow removal signs when posted on residential roadways.

• Remember: When ‘No Parking’ signs are posted on snow route zones, all vehicles must be removed off the roadway by 12 a.m. until the snow removal operation is completed.

• Maintenance of the outdoor rink surface and snow clearing depends on town-wide snow removal during weather events. We will return to outdoor rink surfaces once main roads, sidewalks, lanes, and parking lots are cleared.
