Rising cases in the area force Westlock & District Chamber of Commerce to cancel an upcoming business luncheon.

WESTLOCK — The Westlock & District Chamber of Commerce cancelled its networking event set for Oct. 28 after active cases in the area climbed to 23 during the weekend.

Clinton Senkow, one of Forbes magazine’s 2017 “Top 20 Speakers,” was scheduled to give a talk on marketing and branding, social media and entrepreneurial strategies for small businesses at the Westlock Legion for Small Business Month.

In an e-mail to members earlier today, Chamber president Graeme Harrington announced the cancellation after a majority vote on the board.

“Both the Legion and our guest speaker have graciously agreed to work with us on the rescheduled event, and we are fully planning to have it as soon as we are able,” he wrote. They plan to have it back on in November, “after things have settled down in the area.”

Tickets will be honoured or refunded at the buyer’s choice.
