Westlock’s bantam Rock lacrosse team continued its strong season this weekend, beating the visiting Edmonton Blues 15-11 on June 15. The home game was the team’s second last of the regular season.

In sports, sometimes the best team doesn’t win, or the game is a lot closer than it should have been.

Saturday, June 8: the morning was fine, with a cool breeze. Nerves jangled, hearts pounded and minds focused on a challenging test of fitness and willpower.

Last Tuesday, Edwin Parr Composite School (EPC) celebrated what Aspen View School associate superintendent Mark Francis characterized as its single most successful athletics season in recent memory.

Terry Mudryk is an extremely proud mother. ìI can remember the day when (my son) Bryan and I left hospital after he received his bone marrow transplant. Heís six-foot-one, so heís tall. When I say he was 139 pounds, youíll know he was frail.

Years of hard work and dedication to the sport of football have paid off for Brad Russell.

This Saturday, one of Bryan Mudrykís dreams will come true. The Boyle native and TSN personality is coming home for his annual Golf Classic event at the Skeleton Lake Golf Club and the Boyle Community Centre.

All hail to MTM! The Barrhead side took top honours in a baseball tournament featuring teams from Meadowview, Glenreagh, Mosside, Neerlandia and Swan Hills. It proved a great way for Terese and Kelvin Koch to bow out as MTM coaches.

Although the medal count was slim, their performance was worthy of gold as five athletes represented Westlock at the 2013 Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association’s Track and Field Championships in Calgary June 7-8. Conne Lategan scored R.F.
