Hundreds of students from around the region converged on the Westlock Golf Club Sept. 20 to take part in a local sporting tradition that goes back decades. St.

The Barrhead Composite High School (BCHS) Junior Varsity girls’ volleyball team won a bronze medal in their first tournament of the year this weekend at R.F. Staples School in Westlock. Both the JV boys and girls were in attendance at the R.F.

Residents wanting to take in a little hockey action at the Barrhead Agrena on the weekends will have no shortage of games to choose from. That is because the Barrhead Minor Hockey Association (BMHA) will ice 11 teams for 2018/19 season.

The Westlock Thunderbirds returned to the gridiron last week only to be handed their second loss in as many games. The Thunderbirds were in Lloydminster Sept. 6 for their second-consecutive road game to open up the season, losing to the Barons 45-8.

The Westlock Golf Club crowned its 2018 club champions last weekend with Ryan Hoglander taking the men’s draw, Madison McVeety winning the women’s and Reid Casavant rising up to claim the junior title.
